The standard reading distance of general card readers is 4-10 cm, the reading distance of ID card readers is slightly longer, and the reading distance of Mifare cards is slightly shorter. If you use a keychain type proximity card, the reading distance will be shorter, generally 1-3 cm. Ordinary card readers do not one-sided pursuit of card reading distance, but pay more attention to the stability of the card reader. Access card reader products do not read the card in the critical area of the card reading magnetic field, but read the card in the area with the most sufficient magnetic field energy to increase its stability. If the reading distance of the card reader is too long, it is not suitable for the access control needs, and the two card readers that are too close will interfere with each other.

The way of reading the card, it is recommended to use the card directly facing the card reader and approach it naturally. The card reading method that uses the card to quickly swipe from the side is not advisable and does not guarantee the success of swiping the card.

The card reader is installed on a metal surface, since the card reader is a radio frequency product, the metal pair near the back will absorb its radio frequency signal regardless of whether it is in the front or the rear. If the metal surface is very large, it may even affect the reader's failure to read the card, or the reading distance will be greatly attenuated. In addition, the distance between the two card readers will also affect the card reader, some will shorten the reading distance, and some will become longer, causing the two readers to read the card at the same time.

The solution is: try not to install it on a metal surface, or dig out the metal part of the card reader installed against the back, or raise the reader 1-2 cm on the metal surface, and keep the distance between readers above 25 cm.
